If you Travel with Technology

Your Responsibility

You are expected to take some extra precautions when traveling with a device that is used to work with sensitive university data.

Traveling with Technology

Your personal information and sensitive university data can be at risk when you are away from home, especially if you travel overseas. Individuals, organized crime, and some foreign governments are increasingly aggressive about hacking into or stealing sensitive data from mobile devices carried by visiting scholars and researchers. Sensitive data may fall into the wrong hands as a result of your device being hacked into, inspected, confiscated, stolen, or lost.

There are steps you can take before, during, and after your trip to protect sensitive university data and your own personal information. For a two-minute video, as well as recommendations, guidelines, and resources, see Traveling with Technology.
