Service Description 

The Statistics and Computation Service provides access to a set of Linux-based servers where U-M students, faculty, and staff can run computationally intensive or long-running programs. The service is typically used for such things asrunning mathematical and statistical programs and compiling and running custom programs. The Statistics and Computation Service is a U-M service provided by Information and Technology Services. It is an optional service included in the Standard Computing Services.


The Statistics and Computation Service is not suitable for processing or storing most types of sensitive institutional data.  Storage included with use of the Statistics and Computation Service is intended as temporary storage while performing analysis; this space is not intended for long-term storage. The service does not include safeguards for protecting most types of sensitive data.
